English BookWorks is saddened to announce the passing of one of our authors.  Mr. James H. Killion III passed away on December 5, 2022.

I first met Jim in 1998 when we worked together in corporate America. A mutual friend reconnected us when he found out we had both written and published a book around the same time.

James H. Killion III’s book is titled “A Black Soldier’s Letter Home: World War II”.  We instantly bonded over being new authors and how to navigate the whole journey.  Jim’s book attracted national attention.  His book of unedited candid letters from this father, James H. Killion Jr. during World War II caught the attention of the National WWII Museum.  On Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2022, Jim was in New Orleans where his book was being honored.  The book and some of the surviving original letters will be housed in the history archives of the National WWI Museum.

I had the great privilege of bringing Jim’s book to the Miami Book Fair in November of 2022.  I remember speaking with Jim, after the fair, about the excitement over his book.  As the humble man he was, he seemed surprised.  Having read his book, I was not at all surprised by its greatness and success at the book fair.

The world is missing an amazing businessman, civic leader, mentor, husband, father, brother, friend, and author. We, here at English BookWorks, are happy to say, we got the chance to partner with Mr. James H. Killion III. Rest in Peace.
